Sioux City 6, Wichita 4

After Wichita jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a 1B Matt Chavez grand slam, Sioux City took control as they tallied all six of their runs in the next four innings and rolled to a 6-4 win.

The Explorers received contributions from up and down their batting order as eight of the nine hitters collected at least a hit. Sioux City CF Tony Campana went 2-for-3 with two runs scored while DH Tyler Ogle and LF LeVon Washington each launched a home run.

Explorers starter Justin Vernia allowed four earned runs over six innings pitched and picked up the win in his first outing of the season. Vernia allowed five hits and five walks to go along with two strikeouts.
