XS SNAP SIX GAME LOSING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER TEXAS07/16/2017 8:14 PM
SIOUX CITY, IA- The Sioux City Explorers wrapped up the Texas series with a win, snapping their six game losing streak with a 7-6 victory over the Texas AirHogs on Sunday evening. Texas led with a 2-1 score after two and a half innings. The Explorers offense took fire in the bottom half of the third to take the 5-2 lead. Michael Lang knocked in a run with an RBI double. Jayce Ray plated two runs with a two-run single, and later scored himself, giving Sioux City five total runs. In the top of the fourth, Texas tied the game. Alvaro Rondon scored a run with a 6-3 RBI groundout. With runners at second and third and two outs, Casio Grider knocked in both runners with a double. Sioux City answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Josh Vitters ripped a base-hit single with the bases-loaded to score the runners at second and third. Texas managed to score one more in the contest, but it would not be enough to cut the deficit. Final score: Explorers 7, AirHogs 6 at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park. Explorers reliever Ryan Flores (2-2) received the victory, allowing three runs in four innings pitched. X’s closer PJ Francescon (s-12) got the save, going 1-2-3 in the ninth inning to cinch the 7-6 victory.
