The Sioux City Explorers came back in the seventh inning down by one, scoring three runs to take the lead with insurance 5-3, which went on to be the final score of the game. 


Gary Southshore got on the board first, plating a run in the second inning and two runs in the fourth to take the early 3-0 lead. Railcats second baseman Alex Hernandez doubled and later scored on an error for the first run. In the fourth, three hits and two doubles helped plate the two runners who crossed home. 


Explorers answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the fourth. X’s first baseman Rene Tosoni reached base-on-balls, stole second base and scored off a Brock Kjeldgaard RBI single. Kjelgaard then stole second and scored off a Ryan Court base-hit. 


In the seventh inning, Sioux City took the lead knocking in three big runs off three hits and an error to give them the 5-3 tilt. Rene Tosoni singled to score a run with another run scoring on the at-bat off an error by the right fielder. X’s shortstop Noah Perio hit a sac-fly-RBI that scored Lang from third, giving them the 5-3 lead after seven innings. 


In the ninth, X’s reliever Rob Wort (s-4) closed it out with a scoreless inning to seal the 5-3 victory. Explorers starter John Straka (10-2) received the win, allowing three runs on six hits while recording eight strikeouts in seven innings. Railcats right-hander Charle Rosario (12-7) was charged with the loss giving up five runs (four earned) in 6.1 innings pitched. 


Explorers catcher Brendan Slattery had the hot night at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. X’s shortstop Noah Perio also doubled with two RBIs on the contest.
