DAVE NITZ RETURNS FOR 7th SEASON ON KSCJ04/17/2015 8:32 AM
SIOUX CITY, IA– The Sioux City Explorers announced today that veteran play-by-play broadcaster, Dave Nitz will return as the ‘Voice of the X’s’ for the 2015 season, and all 100 Sioux City Explorers games can be heard on KSCJ 1360 AM and the all new FM band at 94.9 and via the X’s website (www.xsbaseball.com) and the all new KSCJ Smartphone app.
This will be the seventh year for Dave as the “Voice of the Explorers” and his 34th year broadcasting minor league baseball. During that time, he has broadcast over 3,500 minor league games, including Triple-A in the Rangers organization at Oklahoma City and Double-A with the Giants at Shreveport (LA) in the Texas League.
Dave started his professional baseball career at Bluefield (WV) in the Orioles organization in the Appalachian League and has also worked independent league baseball at Shreveport and Baton Rouge (LA).
Nitz has just completed his 40th year as the play-by-play voice of Louisiana Tech in football, basketball and baseball having broadcast nearly 2,500 games for the Bulldogs. Dave is a native of West Virginia and he and his wife of over 50 years make their home in Haughton, Louisiana.

Michael Moos will enter his 3rd year with the Explorers and first year as the X’s media relations assistant and part-time broadcaster, assisting Dave Nitz on the home broadcasts during the 2015 season. He spent his first two seasons as the producer for the X’s radio broadcasts. This life-long Sioux City resident and West High graduate is a full-time student earning his Audio Engineering degree and also works for Powell Broadcasting as a producer for most high-school/college football and basketball broadcasts.
“It is a pleasure to be able to offer our fans with the opportunity to once again be able to follow their hometown X’s over the airwaves for all 100 games on KSCJ and the addition of the FM band and the new KSCJ smartphone app will be two great new ways for our fans to stay on top of all the action this summer,” commented Explorers VP/General Manager, Shane Tritz. “Dave is one of the best in the game and I am thrilled to have him back along with the addition of Michael, as he will be a great new addition to our broadcast team with Dave this season.”
