SAINTS TAKE SERIES FINALE08/18/2013 8:00 PM
Sioux City-----For the second straight night St. Paul scored early as they handed the Explorers an 11-1 defeat here Sunday.
Saturday, the Saints scored all seven of their runs in the first four innings in winning 7-1 and Sunday a four-run first inning got St. Paul off to a quick start in the 11-1 win over the X’s.
Adam Frost led off the game with a line drive home run over the left field fence and after that the Saints added three more runs and jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
The visitors added another run in the second and three more in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead before the Explorers scored their only run of the game on a solo home run by Luke Murton, his fifth of the season.
Explorer starter Andy Noga pitched only four innings and took his 11th loss of the year, while St. Paul starter Cole Nelson pitched six innings in winning his fifth game of the season.
With the win, St. Paul won two of the three games with the Explorers only win in the series coming Friday in a 6-0 victory over the Saints.
The Explorers will have an off day Monday before starting a six-game Texas road trip on Tuesday with a three-game series at Laredo before closing out the road trip with three games at El Paso over the weekend. The Explorers will be back at Lewis and Clark Park on Tuesday, August 27th to start their final home stand against Sioux Falls.
