Sioux City-----Gary SouthShore dealt the Explorers their third straight loss winning over the X’s at Lewis and Clark Park Monday 6-2.
The first four innings went scoreless before Gary scored a run in the top of the fourth to take a 1-0. The Explorers came back and tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning when Luke Murton (pictured) led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Yusuke Inoguchi. Bryan Pounds tied the contest with a run-scoring double.
However, in the sixth, Gary took the lead for good on a bases load double by Adam Klein and the RailCats led 4-1. Klein finished the game with four RBI’s.
Gary added two more runs in the seventh to extend their lead to 6-1 before the Explorers scored their final run in the seventh inning on a wild pitch to make the final score 6-2.
The RailCats pounded 16 hits in the game off two Explorer pitchers with Jason Jarvis taking the loss. Luke Murton led the Explorers with three of the seven hits for Sioux City.
The middle game of the three-game series will be Tuesday at Lewis and Clark Park with game time set for 7:05pm.
