WICHITA WINS 11-7 OVER THE EXPLORERS06/06/2012 10:19 PM
Wichita, KS-----The Wichita Wingnuts came from behind to defeat the Explorers 11-7 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium Wednesday. The Explorers had taken a 5-0 lead in the second inning as they sent nine batters to the plate to take the early advantage over the Wingnuts. In the top of the third inning, Brian Bistange hit his second home run of the season and the Explorers had a 6-1 lead going into the bottom of the third inning. That's when Wichita started their comeback as the Wingnuts tied the game scoring five runs in the third on only three hits as the Explorers committed two costly errors as two of the runs were unearned off losing pitcher Max Whieldon (1-2).
Wichita took the lead for good in the fourth off Whieldon as the righthander walked the first two batters and later a ground ball out scored the go-ahead run as the Explorers trailed 7-6. It remained a one-run until the seventh inning when Wichita scored four runs, two on a single by Mitch Einertson and the other two came on a two-run home run by C.J. Ziegler, his third round tripper of the season to make it an 11-7 lead for the Wingnuts. The Explorers would add their final run in the eighth inning on a run-scoring double by Brandon Newton.
The bright spot for the Explorers would be Yusuke Inoguchi getting three hits which now gives him nine hits in the first three games against Wichita. The Explorers will try to even the series with a win Thursday in the final game of the four-game set at Wichita. Game time will be 7:05. |
