Sioux City------The Explorers were swept in a doubleheader here Thursday by Grand Prairie 3-2 and 6-2. In winning the first game Grand Prairie scored one run in the first and then added two unearned runs in the third to take a 1-0 lead after four innings. The Explorers bounced back with a run in the fifth inning on a RBI single by Brian Bistange and then cut the lead to 3-2 in the seventh on a pinch hit RBI single by Adrian Martinez. Michael Lang was the only Explorer to get more than one hit off AirHogs starter and winner Nick DeBarr, who went the distance to pick up his third win of the season. Alain Quijano also pitched the distance for the Explorers, but took the loss.
In the second game, it was the Explorers who took the early lead when Kris Sanchez connected on an opposite field home run in the second inning, his fifth of the year. Sioux City added their second run in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. Leading 2-0 going into the sixth inning, Grand Prairie sent nine batters to the plate as they scored five runs and led 6-2, which would be the final score. In that sixth inning, the AirHogs had five hit, four of which were doubles off X's relief pitcher Eddie Delacruz, who took the loss.
The Explorers will open up a three-game series tonight at Lewis and Clark Park against Fargo-Moorhead with game time set for 7:05.
