Sioux City, IA- The Sioux City Explorers offense fired on all cylinders Thursday night, scoring eleven big runs to get the 11-4 victory over Kansas City at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.  

Explorers jumped to an early 4-0 lead, plating two runs in each of the first two innings. Sioux City added the first two runs off a sac-fly-RBI and groundout. In the second inning, Michael Lang and Nate Samson each knocked in a run with an RBI single, giving the X’s the quick 4-0 lead.

Kansas City recorded their first run in the fifth. Vladamir Frias led-off the inning with a solo-homer to cut the lead to 4-1 after four and a half innings of play.

Sioux City answered with three big runs in the bottom of the fifth. Tim Colwell scored a run with an RBI triple and later scored on an Ino Patron base-hit for the first two runs. Newly signed Explorer, Bryan Johns knocked in the third run with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the eleventh, the X’s added another. Tim Colwell kept his hot-night rolling, smashing a solo-shot to give Sioux City eight runs on the night.

The T-Bones put up two runs in the eighth inning. Jake Blackwood and Starlin Rodriguez each tacked on a run with RBI singles to cut the lead down to 8-3.

The Explorers were not finished just yet, chalking up three more runs in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Nate Samson and LeVon Washington each singled to score a run, and the third run crossed on a Tim Colwell RBI groundout.

Kansas City managed to score one more run in the contest to give them the 11-4 final score.

Explorers left-hander Cody Forsythe (7-4) pitched a gem on Thursday, going seven solid innings with only one run allowed with five strikeouts.

T-Bones starter Mike Kickham (2-2) was charged with the loss, giving up seven runs (six earned) in five innings pitched while recording seven strikeouts.
