DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Laredo Lemurs SS Jimmy Mojica and Sioux City Explorers RHP Jason Jarvis have been named this week's Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
Mojica batted .438 with four home runs and 12 RBI in seven games played. The resident of Kansas City, KS collected 14 hits, scored nine runs and had a slugging percentage of .844. In Laredo’s 5-3 win over the El Paso Diablos Saturday, Mojica went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three runs scored.
Jarvis had a 1-0 record with a 1.59 ERA in two starts this past week. In 17 innings pitched, the 24-year-old allowed three earned runs on 13 hits with four walks and nine strikeouts. Jarvis was terrific on Sunday as he tossed a complete game against Sioux Falls giving up only an earned run on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. This is the second Player of the Week award for the Scottsdale, AZ resident this season.
