Sioux City.....Peter Barrows walk-off home run in the tenth inning gave the Explorers a 6-5 win over El Paso Sunday at Lewis and Clark Park. It was Barrow's second home run since joining the Explorers on Monday. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for the Explorers as the X's salvaged the final game of the series with the Diablos.
Barrow's first home run was a grand slam shot on Tuesday at Winnipeg. It was also the first extra inning win for the Explorers and the first win over a South Division team this season. It was a contest that went back and forth all evening. After El Paso took the lead 5-4 in the eighth inning, the Explorers came back to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth. Mike Bisenius was safe on an error to start the ninth. In a pinch hitting role, Kris Sanchez walked and then Brian Bistange doubled to drive home Bisenius to tie the game at 5-5. Sanchez also tried to score from first on the double, but was thrown out at the plate. It was Bistange's third hit of the game and his second RBI of the contest.
That set the stage for the tenth inning. With one out in the bottom of the tenth Barrow's walk-off home run hit the scoreboard in left field and the Explorers losing streak came to an end. Chris Bodishbaugh pitched two and one third innings in relief to pick up his first win of the season. Monday will be an off day for the Explorers. The X's will return to action on Tuesday at Lewis and Clark Park as they open up a four-game series with Gary SouthShore. Game time will be 7:05 with fireworks after the game.
