Mercy Medical Center Secures Naming Rights for Baseball Playing Surface at Lewis and Clark Park on Monday

Mercy Medical Center and the City of Sioux City are entering into an agreement to give Mercy naming rights to the playing surface at Lewis and Clark Park, home of the Sioux City Explorers. The agreement will be approved by the City Council on Monday, April 25. This partnership will bring with it some much needed improvements to the ball park located at 3400 Line Drive. Mercy Medical Center’s $300,000 contribution to the City of Sioux City will assist with the installation of a state of the art video scoreboard for the ball park to be installed prior to the start of the Explorer’s home opener on May 19.

"The Sioux City Explorers and Lewis & Clark Park are icons of our community", says Jim FitzPatrick, President and CEO of Mercy Medical Center. "It's a great entertainment and sports venue and the Explorers have provided a lot of excitement over the years and provided a great atmosphere for even the casual baseball fan. Mercy has always been a leader in contributing to our community, collaborating with non-profits and other businesses and organizations to make our community a great place to live, work and play. We want to contribute not only taking care of people's health care needs when they are sick, but keeping them well, active and healthy."

Sioux City Explorers Chairman John Roost stated, "The Explorers have been working toward installing a new scoreboard for quite some time. The generosity of Mercy Medical is making that goal a reality for this season. We are pleased to welcome Mercy into the strong partnership the Explorers and the City of Sioux City have enjoyed for years. Additionally, we look forward to seeing the way this project will enhance the fan experience at the stadium for years to come."
