Lincoln, NE-----After losing three of four at Kansas City, the Sioux City Explorers bounced back with a 6-3 win over Lincoln here Friday night.
The Explorers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning Eliezer Mesa had a one-out single, stole second and scored on a double by Wally Backman, Jr. In the fifth inning the Explorers got to starting and losing pitcher Joe Bisenius for four runs with Backman, Peter Barrows and Palmer Karr getting RBI’s.
Mesa had three hits to lead the Explorers while Backman had two hits and two RBI’s for the X’s. Peter Barrows stroked his third home run of the season in the eighth inning. It was the first home run by the Explorers since Bryan Pounds hit three home runs against the Saltdogs last Friday.
Richard Salazar pitched five and one third innings to record his first win of the season, his longest outing in three starts.
The Explorers and Lincoln will meet in the second game of the three-game series here Saturday starting at 7:05. After the three-game series in Lincoln, the Explorers will return home Monday to start a six-game homestand.
