July 24, 2010 - Sioux City-----The Explorers snapped a six-game losing streak Saturday with a 7-1 win over Fort Worth. Catcher Matt Kramer and pitcher Ty Marotz led the Explorers to the victory. Kramer went three for three at the plate with a three-run home run, two doubles and scored three runs. Marotz, on the other hand pitched seven shutout innings, scattering six hits with six strikeouts to pick up his fifth win of the season. Fort Worth avoided a shutout when they scored a run with two outs in the ninth inning. The Explorers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Kramer led off with a double and Derek Schermerhorn later doubled him home with the first run of the game. The X's scored twice in the fifth inning without a hit. Cats starting pitcher Colin Allen walked three while a fielders choice and error scored the runs for the Explorers. Kramer hit his three-run home run in the sixth inning, his third of the year and his third home run this week. With the series tied at a game apiece, the final game of the three-game series will be Sunday at 6:05 at Lewis and Clark Park. |
