July 23, 2010 - Sioux City-----The Explorers losing streak reached six games, the longest of the season, with a 6-3 loss to Fort Worth Friday. The Explorers, for the second straight game, had opportunities to score, but couldn't get the big hit. Thursday, the Explorers left 14 runners on base in a two-run loss to Sioux Falls. Friday, the Explorers stranded nine runners, six of those coming in the first four innings. After Fort Worth took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, the Explorers got a run in the fourth on a RBI single by Tim Alberts. Ernie Banks then singled to load the bases with nobody out, but the Explorers could not score another run and left the bases loaded. John Allen hit a three-run home run in the fifth off losing hurler Jae Jung which gave the Cats a 5-1 lead. The Explorers added single runs in the fifth and seventh inning, but lost their sixth straight while Fort Worth snapped a two-game losing streak. The Explorers and Fort Worth will meet again Saturday at Lewis and Clark Park with game time set for 7:05. |
