« Back

July 20, 2010 - Sioux City-----For the fourth time this season the Explorers losing streak has reached three games as they lost Tuesday at Lewis and Clark Park to Sioux Falls 5-3. However, in this game the Explorers took the lead 1-0 in the first inning on a RBI double by T.J. Bohn. In the second inning Sioux Falls tied the game at 1-1 on a solo home run by Brandon Sing. The Explorers took the lead again in the third inning on a ground out by Bohn, getting his second RBI of the game. But in the fourth, Sing once again drove one out of the ballpark, this time a two-run home run to give Sioux Falls a 3-2 lead. It was Sing's 22nd home run of the season tying a single season American Association record. The Pheasants added two more tallies in the fifth inning to take the lead to 5-2. The Explorers cut the final margin to 5-3 when Bohn had a two-out double and Kent Sakamoto drove him home. David Welch suffered the loss even though he struck out a season high nine batters. The two teams will meet again Wednesday, this time at Sioux Falls. Game time will be 7:05.
