 January 18, 2010 - SIOUX CITY, IA – The Sioux City Explorers have without a doubt bolstered their pitching staff for the 2010 season with a few new faces they have acquired in recent trades combined with the re-signing of pitchers David Trahan, Ty Marotz, and Mike Phelps, but have now landed 2009 All-Star starting pitcher Jae Hun Jung from the Fort Worth Cats in a trade that will send INF Nick McCoola to the Cats.
Jung, 28, posted a 7 – 3 record with an astonishing 2.59 ERA, which ranked 2nd in the American Association behind Pensacola starting pitcher Kyle Middleton (1.75 ERA in 87.0 innings). In (18) starts, Jung struck out 48 batters and only allowed 16 walks in 125.0 innings of work while holding opponents to a .227 batting average against. Along with ranking 2nd in the American Association with his 2.59 ERA, Jung also led the American Association in shut outs (2), complete games (3) while also being named to the 2009 American Association All-Star game in Grand Prairie, TX on July 21st.
Jung was stellar in 2009 versus American Association North Division teams pitching (43) innings and only allowing (6) earned runs including picking up a win versus the X’s on May 18th by going 7.1 innings, while striking out six and allowing no walks and only (1) earned run. Prior to joining the Fort Worth Cats in 2009, Jung pitched professionally for the Doosan Bears in the Korean Baseball Organization from 2006-2008.

The 2010 season will mark Jae’s 2nd season in the American Association and 1st as a member of the Sioux City Explorers. Jung was born in Seoul Korea and currently resides in Burbank, CA.
